Blissberry Oh Yeah

Blissberry Oh Yeah is a really neat buck. He is on the adga sire development program due to his very high PTA for milk production, has some of my favorite Nubians in his immediate pedigree and was an eye catcher the moment he stepped out of the crate. Also, he has produced some pretty babies in his first crop of kids including a doeling who, for her age, is my favorite goat we’ve bred at Copper Canyon so far, Copper Canyon O Sunflower. O is a long, tall, dairy buck who oozes general appearance. He is an eye catcher and in limited use so far he has done a good job of passing those traits down to his progeny.

When picking a new herd sire, there is a school of thought that you find a doe you really admire, a doe that represents many of the qualities you aspire to have in your herd and you get a son from her. That is exactly what we did in 2020 when we purchased a buckling out of Blissberry GoodyGoody Gumdrops (aka GeeGee). From a quality standpoint, Blissberry has produced so many quality does but I think GeeGee deserves mention right up there with the best of them. Additionally, she is exactly the type of doe I love. I tall, long, powerhouse doe who caught everyone’s eye at a show and excelled on the milk stand. A true dairy goat, GeeGee is arguably the best production doe Blissberry has bred so far. Her lifetime milking records are exceptional both in terms of milk volume and contents. Sadly, GeeGee passed shortly after giving birth to Oh Yeah. We are so proud to have her son working in our herd and hope the Copper Canyon herd can be part of her legacy.

O’s sire is one of my favorite living Nubian herdsires and I have followed his career almost from the beginning. Wingwood Farm TL Atlas is another really neat buck. Without going too deep into the wonderful genetics behind Atlas, I will say that his littermate sister, Wingwood Farms TL Aviva, is maybe the best production doe ever produced by the Wingwood herd. Check out her production numbers. They are extremely impressive. And Atlas has passed on those same impressive milking genetics to his progeny with great results. Look up the production numbers on the following does so you can see the consistent, powerful impact Atlas is having on the production of his progeny. SGCH Redwood Hills Atlas Carnival, Redwood Hills Atlas Demeter, Redwood Hills Atlas Glamour, SGCH Redwood Hills Atlas Talasi and Redwood Hills Atlas Titania. Atlas doesn’t just produce champions who win points on confirmation. He also produces does who truly excel on the milk stand and that is an ideal we strive for at Copper Canyon.

Oh Yeah is still just a yearling but we’ve loved the juniors he has produced so far and are very excited to see his first daughter freshen this fall, Copper Canyon O Sunflower. We will be breeding Oh Yeah to all 3 does we are freshening this spring and potentially one more this fall. If you are looking to add stature, dairyness and outstanding milk production to your herd, then a kid sired out of this big handsome fella is worth your consideration.
